What it is

Let's be clear about what this is, because people sometimes mix it up with a regular translation. A certified translation is the complete translation of your document, with a signed statement from the translator saying it is accurate and complete, plus our seal. It is what USCIS, schools, courts and many employers ask for. We translate everything: text, seals, signatures (described) and margin notes, because every detail counts. One person translates each document, a different person reviews it, and it is polished before it is signed. We only translate: we carry your document faithfully from one language to the other, without giving legal advice or drafting documents.

How your investment is calculated

We charge by words, not by sheets. The first billing page covers up to 310 words (250 plus 60 courtesy words, given only once), and each additional page covers 250 more words: up to 310 words = 1 page; 311 to 560 = 2; 561 to 810 = 3; and so on. Example: a record with 280 words = 1 page = 25 USD. A full birth certificate, with its seals and notes, of about 450 words = 2 pages = 50 USD. If it is a specialized legal document (contract, power of attorney, court ruling), the page is 35 USD. Family bundle (for individuals and families; companies have their own plan): from 3 personal documents, the billing page drops to 20 USD (instead of 25), plus a one-time 15 USD file handling fee; for example, 7 one-page documents = 7 × 20 + 15 = 155 USD. The bundle doesn't apply to specialized legal documents (35 USD per page). Next day: +15 USD per page. Same day: +20 USD per page.

What we need from you

  • Your document however you have it (PDF, Word, a scan or a clear photo), every page, front and back; if you don't have a scanner, a phone photo works and we'll let you know if we need a new one
  • Names exactly as they appear on your passport, with accents and compound last names
  • What you need it for (USCIS, school, court, employer), so we prepare the right format
  • If you have the list of documents you were asked for, send it and we'll help you spot which ones need translating

If your job comes to less than 300 USD, you pay it in full when you approve your quote. If it comes to 300 USD or more (for example, a large family file), you pay 50% to start and 50% on delivery. You pay from your traducasa.com account.

Guarantee and refunds

Service guarantee: if an office objects to the translation because of a mistake on our part, we fix it at no cost and deliver it again. Revisions of our translation are included.

Refund policy, depending on timing:

  • Before we start working on your document: 100% refund.
  • Work started but not delivered: we refund the part not yet worked on.
  • Work delivered: no refund, but we fix any mistake of ours at no cost.
  • Official fees and shipping already paid to third parties cannot be recovered.

Your documents and your data are always handled with full confidentiality.

Frequently asked questions

What's at stake if you submit an incomplete or uncertified translation?
USCIS asks that every English translation be complete and come with the translator's certification. If a seal, a note or the certification is missing, they may ask for more evidence and your case can be delayed for weeks. Getting it complete and certified from the start saves you that delay.
Why do you charge by words and not by sheets?
Because it's fair. One sheet can have 80 words or 700. We count the words, add 60 courtesy words (once) and tell you the price before we start.
Will the translation work for USCIS?
We prepare it the way the USCIS rule asks: complete and with the translator's signed certification. USCIS makes the decision on your case; we make sure the translation is complete and faithful.
Do I need to notarize it?
For a certified translation, USCIS asks for the translator's certification, not notarization. If a school or office asks for it notarized, we add it to your quote with our Signature notarization service.
Can I order from another country?
Yes. We help anyone online, in any country. You get the PDF in your account and, if you need it on paper, we ship it to you; international shipping is quoted by country.
